Giuditta Cordero-Moss
PRESIDENT
Giuditta Cordero-Moss, Dr. juris (Oslo), PhD (Moscow), is Professor at the Law Faculty of the University of Oslo, where she teaches International Commercial Law, Private International Law, Comparative Law and Norwegian Law of Obligations.
An originally Italian lawyer, she was a corporate lawyer for years before joining academia, where she researches the issues that she had met in her practice and meets as an arbitrator.
She publishes in Norway and internationally and is often invited to lecture internationally. She held the special lectures at the Hague Academy of International Law in 2014, and was the co-director of the Academy’s Centre for Studies and Research on arbitration and the applicable law (2021).
She is a member, among others, of the Curatorium of the Hague Academy of International Law (2019-2024), of the International Court of Arbitration, International Chamber of Commerce (2018-2024), of the UNCITRAL Working Group II on Arbitration (since 2007); of the Norwegian Governmental Tariff Board (2015-2024), of the Board of the Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway (Vice Chairman, 2014-2026), and of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters (since 2016). She was the President (2017-20) and a Judge (2007-2020) of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development Administrative Tribunal.
Gary Bell

Gary F. Bell, Secretary-General of the International Academy of Comparative Law, was trained in both civil and common law at McGill where he was Editor in Chief of the McGill Law Journal. He was trained in American law at Columbia University. He clerked for Justice Stevenson of the Supreme Court of Canada and taught at McGill University before joining the Faculty of Law of the National University of Singapore (NUS) in 1996. He founded, and directed for twelve years, the Asian Law Institute (ASLI) which organises research collaborations and annual conferences on Asian law with more than 100 member law schools from all over Asia. ASLI publishes the Asian Journal of Comparative Law (AsJCL). At NUS, he founded the LL.M. in Asian Legal Studies and the LL.M. in International Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. He is the Chair of the Asia Committee and is a member of the Executive Committee of the American Society of Comparative Law. He is one of the editors of the American Journal of Comparative Law and a member of the Board of the Indonesian Law Review. He conducts research and teaches on Indonesian law, international commercial arbitration, comparative law and the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. He has taught as a visitor at a number of universities including at the University of Tokyo, the University of Hong Kong, University of Indonesia, Université Paris-Panthéon-Assas (Paris 2), and McGill University. He also practices as an international commercial arbitrator.
Marilyne Sadowsky

Marilyne Sadowsky is associate professor at the Sorbonne Law School (University of Paris 1 - Panthéon-Sorbonne), where she co-directs the Master 1 and Master 2 in Tax Law. Since 2009, she has been involved in the comparative tax law program created as part of the Wintercourse program "European Universities Cooperating in Tax Matters" (EUCOTAX), which brings together 13 universities. She is a member of various professional associations and institutions that contribute to the promotion of international, European and comparative law; such as the French branch of the International Law Association (ILA) for which she coordinated the white paper on taxation for the ILA's 150th anniversary, the International Fiscal Association (IFA) and, the European Association of Taw Law Professor (EATLP) as an elected member of the Academic Committee, representing France since 2020. Marilyne Sadowsky was a visiting professor at Boston University Law School (USA - 2017) and nominated as a Hugh Ault Fellow at the Max Planck institute in Munich (Germany - 2023). She teaches as a visiting professor at several universities. Her research focuses on comparative, international and European tax law, as well as corporate taxation. Her PhD on WTO Law, EU Law and direct taxation received an honorable mention in the Mitchell B Caroll Prize (IFA).
Kansu Okyay

N. Kansu OKYAY is a Lecturer in Law at the University of Strasbourg.
Kansu is the author of a PhD thesis on hybrid dispute resolution clauses in international law, which was awarded the Prize for the best PhD thesis in private law by the Faculty of Law of the University of Strasbourg. She has been a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institutes in Hamburg and Luxembourg, the University of London (UCL), and the University of Galatasaray. Her teaching and research activities focus on private international law, international commercial arbitration, and comparative law.

Ewa Baginska

Professor Ewa Bagińska is a full professor of law. She graduated in law in 1995 (Nicholas Copernicus University), obtained her PhD (1999 at NCU) and her habilitation degree (2006 at NCU) in civil law and the title of full professor in legal science in 2015. She has also completed judicial apprenticeship (1997). Presently she is the head of the Department of Civil Law at Gdansk University and of the Medical Postgraduate Programme.
She also studied at Utrecht University and the European University Institute. She was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar (1998/1999) and held a NATO Science Fellowship (2000/2001) at the Catholic University of America, Washington DC.
Since 1999, she has been working on the harmonisation of tort law in European countries, as a member of the European Centre for Tort and Insurance Law in Vienna and a Polish member of the European Group on Tort Law. She has given lectures at several dozen international conferences and congresses; she has lectured as a visiting professor at European universities (e.g. Coimbra, Florence, Pisa), CUA in Washington and the Jagiellonian University. She has promoted eight PhDs in law. She was a collaborator and a member of the Commission for the Codification of Civil Law.
Professor Baginska is an international expert in the area of civil law, in particular tort law incl. the specific areas of product liability, public authorities liability, damages for violations of human rights, comparative torts and consumer protection law. She has authored six books as well as almost 200 other contributions in those areas. She is the editor and co-auhtor of 'Damages for Violations of Human Rights. A Comparative Study of Domestic Legal Systems', Springer Verlag (2016) and co-authored 'Tort law in Poland" (Kluwer Law International, Wolters Kluwer) 2nd edn. 2022 (with M. Tulibacka). She has been appointed as expert in international court and arbitration procedings.
She is particularly devoted to the comparative method. She is titular member of the International Academy of Comparative Law. She also sits on the Council of the European Law Institute. She acts as a National Correspondent for the Journal of Civil Law Studies (Luisiana, US). She is a member of the Society of European Contract Law and several advisory boards of law journals in the field of comparative law (incl. European Review of Private Law, Comparative Law Review ed. Univ of N. Copernicus Torun) and is on board of editors of two national journals (Państwo i Prawo, [State and Law] and the Insurance Quarterly Review).

Vivian Curran
VICE-PRESIDENT
Vivian Curran is Distinguished Professor of Law at the University of Pittsburgh. She is the President of the North-American Section of the Société de législation comparée and former President of the American Society of Comparative Law. She has been decorated by France as a Chevalier dans l’Ordre des Palmes Académiques and by Austria with the großes goldenes Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Österreich. She is a member of the American Law Institute which drafts the Restatements of the Law of the United States. Professor Curran is the author of many publications in the area of comparative law and its application to transnational law.
Nicolás Etcheverry
VICE-PRESIDENT
Nicolás Etcheverry is Doctor in Law and Social Sciences (School of Law, Universidad de la República Oriental del Uruguay) where he graduated in 1983. He was Professor of Philosophy of Law at the Universidad de la República (UDELAR) from 1983 until 2003. He was Co-founder of the Instituto Pre-Universitario de Montevideo (PRE/U) and the first Head Master since its foundation in 1995 until 2007. Pre/U is a non-profit association that prepares students academically during their last two years before joining a University. He became Dean of the School of Law of Universidad de Montevideo, since May 2006 until February 2021. He is Member of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL) - Member of the Uruguayan Bar Association – and former Member of the Argentinian Academy of Philosophy of Law.
He is Professor of Ethics and Juridical Deontology at Universidad de Montevideo and at IEEM (Instituto de Estudios Empresariales de Montevideo - “Business School of Montevideo”) - Professor of Philosophy of Law at the School of Law of Universidad de Montevideo and Professor of Rhetoric at the School of Communications, Universidad de Montevideo. He is still a member of the Council at the School of Law at Universidad de Montevideo.

He has been a lecturer and conferencist in different cities such as Buenos Aires - Rosario – Osnabruck – Vienna – Porto Alegre - Minneapolis – Washington – Miami and Asunción.

Makane Mbengue

Makane Moïse Mbengue is Professor of International Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Geneva where he teaches General International Law, International Environmental Law, International Investment Law, Climate Change and International Law, International Water Law, International Dispute Settlement Law and Philosophy of International Law. Prof. Mbengue is also an Affiliate Professor at Sciences Po Paris (School of Law) where he teaches General International Law, the Law of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and Dispute Settlement in the Law of the Sea. He holds a Ph.D. in Public International Law from the University of Geneva. He was the Lead Expert for the negotiations and drafting of the Pan-African Investment Code (PAIC) in the context of the African Union. He was also among the Experts who have prepared the Global Pact for the Environment. He has acted and acts as expert for the African Union, the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Bank, the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the International Institute for Sustainable Development ( IISD ) among others. He also acts as a Professor for courses in International Law organized by the United Nations Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) and by the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). Prof. Mbengue acts as counsel in disputes before international courts and tribunals (in particular, before the International Court of Justice and in investment cases) and as advisor for governments. He is involved in the negotiations of several International Investment Agreements in Africa. He is the author of several publications in the field of international law.
Marilda Rosado De Sá Ribeiro

Marilda Rosado De Sá Ribeiro is a partner at BARBOSA RAIMUNDO, GONTIJO AND CAMARA –BRGC Advogados. She is a part time Associate Professor of International Law, Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro-UERJ (1998 – …) and a coordinator of CEDPETRO – Center of Advanced Studies and Research at the Law School of UERJ, as well as a partner of CEDPEM – Center for Development, Petroleum, Energy and Mining.
She has been a member of the Association of International Negotiators- AIPN since 1997, where she served the Board for two terms. She is a member of the Education Advisory Board of AIPN and a coordinator of the Student Chapter at UERJ-Rio de Janeiro. At the editorial front she is a Chief editor of the Brazilian Journal of Oil Gas and Energy Law Journal –RBDP, edited at UERJ and a member of the Executive Committee of the Journal of World Energy Law and Business –JWELB, edited by Oxford University Press.

Dan Wei

Professor Dan Wei is Professor and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Law of the University of Macau. She is a Member of the Economic Development Council of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government and Invited Expert of Ascertainment of Foreign Law of the Center for Ascertainment of Foreign Law of the Supreme People’s Court of Republic of China. She is Arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), the General Rapporteur of the Committee of International Protection of Consumers of International Law Association (ILA), a board member of International Association of Consumer Law. In China, she is council member of WTO Research Society of China Law Society, council member of Consumer Protection Research of China Law Society and council member of Legal Periodicals of China Law Society. She is the Series Editor of “Laws of Emerging Countries” of the Springer and the President of Macao Association for Brazilian Studies. She has authored more than one hundred pieces of different kinds of academic publications on International Trade and Investment Law, Competition Law, Commercial Law, Arbitration, Consumer Law and Labor Law.
